Chris and Kellie Haley with their family

Chris and Kellie grew up in Salem, with backgrounds in education, business, and ministry. Chris served as a youth pastor and then assistant pastor at a church in South Salem; Kellie focused on women's and community outreach. Their calling to plant Collective emerged through prayer, confirmations from mentors, and a shared passion to reach the unchurched in their hometown. Married since 2022, they aim to create a community where real transformation happens.

Why South Salem

South Salem (25,000 to 30,000 residents) is growing rapidly amid spiritual disconnection, diversity, and social challenges like homelessness. Oregon ranks among the least religious states, with 40 to 45% unaffiliated. The area blends affluent suburbs with economic strain, high Hispanic/Latino diversity (24%), and chronic homelessness affecting 200 to 300 locally.

We love South Salem because it's our home, the streets we know, people we've been like, now freed by Jesus. It's a mix of skeptics, families, and truth-seekers obsessed with coffee, outdoors, and real talk. Burned by stereotypes, residents grill faith questions but crave authenticity. Only one of two recent church plants remains open, highlighting the need.

Vision & Values

Vision

We exist to help people get whole spirit, soul, and story. Collective is where freedom starts, belonging grows, and purpose unlocks through God's presence, the gospel's hope, and real community (1 Thessalonians 5:23, Ephesians 2:10, 2 Corinthians 3:17).

Identity

We live from God's love, fully known and protected in Christ (Romans 5:8, 1 John 3:1, Romans 8:38-39).

Disciple-Making

Jesus wants surrender, not perfection. We grow through obedience, failure, repentance, and community (Luke 9:23, James 5:16, Proverbs 24:16).

Mission

We live sent, leaving comfort to reach others like Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20, John 20:21, Philippians 2:5-8).

Service

We serve humbly, like Jesus washing feet. Just real love (John 13:14-15, Galatians 5:13, Philippians 2:3-5).

Comunitas

No lone-wolf faith. We share messes, burdens, and joys as a community (Acts 2:42-47, Galatians 6:2, Hebrews 10:24-25).

Our Beliefs

God

One God, Father, Son, Spirit, creator and redeemer (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19).

Jesus

God in flesh, died for our sins, rose again, the only way to the Father (John 1:14, Romans 5:8, John 14:6).

Human-
kind

Made in God's image, broken by sin, restored through Jesus (Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:10).

Holy Spirit

Convicts, comforts, empowers, including baptism as in Acts (John 14:26, John 16:8, Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4).

Bible

Alive, authoritative voice of God (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Church

Community of broken people made whole, worshiping, growing, serving (1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 4:11-13).

Our Dream

A collective overcoming hell through Jesus' blood and shared testimonies (Revelation 12:11). Not perfect people, but a story-telling community welcoming the messy, fighting together. Unique in raw authenticity, just real freedom and belonging.
